25-WAITING FOR A MORE CONVENIENT TIME

by Sarah Barry   03/05/2007

“As Paul discoursed on righteousness, self-control and judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, ‘That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.”

1. Where and before whom was Paul on trial? Why had he been sent there from Jerusalem? (23:20-24,27)

2. Who were Paul’s accusers? (24:1) Read verses 2-9. What were the charges they brought against Paul?

3. Read verses 10-16. What is Paul’s attitude toward Governor Felix? What factual information did Paul give about the charge against him? (10- What did he admit about his personal faith and life?

4. Read verses 17-21. Why had Paul come to Jerusalem? What was he doing at the time of his arrest? Who were his real accusers? What did Paul admit to having done that caused a disturbance in the Sanhedrin? Why did this cause such a disturbance?

5. Read verses 22-27. How did Felix respond to Paul’s statement? How did he try to avoid responsibility? Why didn’t he free him? (24-27)

6. Why did Felix and his wife like to listen to Paul? What did Paul preach to him? How did he respond to the gospel and the clear teaching about judgment? Why did he keep putting off a decision? What kind of man was Felix?
